This pump has no seals and has an electric motor that is an integral part of the pump, sitting on the same rotation axis. The bearings of this pump are lubricated by the process fluid passing through a very narrow gap between the stator and rotor inside the electric motor.
These pumps are designed for use with liquids that contain no solids at all, to prevent wear of the bearings, which are graphite sliding bearings. If the graphite sliding bearings are replaced with silicon carbide sliding bearings, it is possible to work with a small amount of solids (up to ~5%). The pump is a standard centrifugal pump and its pipe connections are standard and comply with ANSI/ASME standards. The pump is completely sealed, so it can operate while submerged in liquid. It is also better in cases of hazardous or toxic material leaks, since the leak occurs into the inner containment rather than outward.
There is protection against temperature rise — inside the pump motor there is a mechanism that shuts down the pump in case of temperature rise. There is also a bearing wear gauge that shows their condition at all times and bearings can be replaced when needed.
There is an add-on that can be installed that stops the pump when there is no liquid. Its size is one-third of a conventional pump, it is quiet, and delivery time is 14 business days. There is a two-year warranty from installation date.
